When looking for a mattress, there are several factors to consider to ensure you find the right one for your needs and preferences. Our sales staff has been with us for decades! They are friendly, knowledgable and factory trained to help you find the right mattress for you.
Here are some key things to look for:
- Comfort: Comfort is subjective, so it’s SO important to try out different mattresses to find the level of comfort that suits you best. Look for a mattress that provides adequate support while also feeling comfortable to lie on. Since comfort is so subjective, don’t rely solely on reviews to pick the best mattress for you.
- Support: A good mattress should provide proper support for your body, especially for your spine. It should align your spine in a neutral position, regardless of your sleeping position. Look for a mattress that offers appropriate firmness or softness based on your preferences and any specific health considerations. We carry several mattresses that endorsed by chiropractors. One of our most popular beds the Kimberly Pillowtop has the Congress of Chiropractic State Associations’ (COCSA) Seal of Approval. COCSA is the largest governing body of chiropractors in the United States. The COCSA Seal of Approval is granted to products or services deemed to have exceptional value to their state association members and the chiropractic profession in general. In order to meet the criteria for the seal of approval, mattresses must confirm to a number of strict standards for back and spinal health.
- Mattress Type: There are various types of mattresses available, including innerspring, memory foam, latex, hybrid, and airbeds. Each type has its own characteristics and benefits. Please see our other blog post that goes into depth on these different mattress types.
- Durability: Consider the mattress’s durability and lifespan. A high-quality mattress should be able to withstand regular use for many years without significant wear and tear. Look for mattresses made from durable materials. A couple of our favorite brands are White Dove and Englander. These are family owned companies that have been in business for over 100 years! They put more into their products instead of advertising and shareholder’s pockets like a lot of the big brands do.
- Motion Isolation: If you share the bed with a partner, you might want to consider a mattress with good motion isolation. This feature minimizes the transfer of motion from one side of the bed to the other, allowing you and your partner to sleep undisturbed if one of you moves during the night. Pocketed coils, memory foam and latex tend to provide the best motion isolation..
- Temperature Regulation: Some mattresses can retain heat, leading to discomfort during sleep. If you tend to sleep hot, look for mattresses with cooling features such as breathable materials or gel-infused foam to help regulate your body temperature. Many manufacturers also use phase change material (PCM) to help create a neutral temperature mattress.
- Edge Support: If you use the entire surface of your mattress, including the edges, for sitting or getting in and out of bed, consider a mattress with good edge support. This feature ensures that the edges of the mattress are stable and won’t sag or collapse easily. Look for mattresses that feature foam encasement.
- Trial Period and Warranty: Check if the mattress comes with a trial period that allows you to test it at home and return it if you’re not satisfied. Additionally, look for mattresses with a warranty that covers manufacturing defects or premature sagging. All of our mattresses come with the manufacturer’s warranty built in.
- Budget: Set a budget range for your mattress purchase, as prices can vary significantly. We offer great financing options and take most forms of payment including credit card, check, cash, PayPal and Apple Pay.
